The Summertown Eagles raced past familiar foe Perry County 88-45 as they got back into action after Thanksgiving.
In the first period Kurt Burleson got a pass from Sawyer Sherman in the short corner, knocking down the jumper to give Summertown the early 7-4 lead.
On the next possession, it was Lleyton Sherman this time who found Burleson walking into a three-pointer at the top of the key.
Late in the first it was Sherman to Sherman as Lleyton would get the pass from Sawyer on the left wing to knock down the three. Summertown would lead at the end of the first quarter 24-11.
Starting the second Lleyton Sherman got open again for his fifth three pointer of the game at that point. Midway through the second quarter Sherman came off a screen and knocked down another three. Summertown led at the end of the first half 47-29.
Midway through the third quarter Lleyton Sherman found Mason Neal in transition laying it up for two. On the next possession for the Eagles, Neal took it to the rack again for back-to-back layups as Summertown would lead going into the fourth period 72-41.
Late in the fourth, Max Dillard off the bench went sky high to grab an offensive rebound and put it back up and in for Summertown and the Eagles went on to the 88-45 win.
Lleyton Sherman led the way in scoring with 30 points on 10 three-pointers. Burleson finished with 14 points and six assists followed by Neal with nine points.
Summertown is scheduled to be back in action this upcoming Friday as they will take on Wayne County at home. Girls’ tipoff will be at 6 p.m. followed by the boy’s game. Both games will be streamed live on the X Sports Network via Facebook and YouTube.
