Lady Eagles Put Away Lady Vikings on the Road

Summertown’s Lady Eagles improved to 5-0 on the season with a 53-27 win at Perry County.

Gabi Long got the scoring started early scoring the first six points with back-to-back three-pointers and an early 6-0 lead.

Senior Abbie Jo Schaffer got in a groove scoring inside on back-to-back possessions, as Summertown got the game started on a 10-0 run midway through the first period. By the end of the first the lead was 12-2.

Midway through the second quarter Shaffer got it down finding El-lee Lu Mason cutting to the basket who laid it up with the left hand for two. The Lady Eagles would lead at the half 23-13.

Schaffer would have 10 points at the half followed by Long with six and Busby with 3.

The second half started with Busby dropping a three on the right wing to extend the lead to 13 points. She pulled up again for a three midway through the third, sparking another 10-0 run.

Busby netted 10 points in the third, as the Summertown lead grew to 43-18 going into the fourth.

In the fourth, Busby picked up the assist with a pass over the top for Schaffer for the layup.

Shaffer led the way in scoring with 20 points and six rebounds followed by Busby with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists on the night.

Summertown is scheduled to play Friday as they host Wayne County. Tipoff will be at 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the X Sports Network via Facebook and YouTube.
